We have had the oddest weather here. While I should be bundled up in coats and scarves it is warm enough for me to wear shorts and tanks. It is quite peculiar. In either case, I've been taking advantage of this by wearing lots of loose comfortable summer clothes.

I have fallen so very far behind in my blogging lately. But before I catch up on recent events, I thought I'd end the year with a "picture review." So here we are, my 2011 as told by my camera.

Performed in three plays.

Turned 18, got my drivers license, got into colleges.

Designed, advertised and sold a collection of headbands with the lovely My.

Went to many wonderful places...

Took a road trip with my best friends.

Took lots of outfit pictures.

Finished my summer photo project.

Went off to college.

Experienced lots of snow.

Made some amazing new friends.

Spent time with my favorite people.

Overall, this has been a year of change and new things. Because of this, it has been a year full of upset, as well as joy. I have no idea what the future holds, but I know one thing for certain. No matter how scary or unpleasant things may seem, there will always be something good that comes out of them. As long as we have the people we love around us, nothing else really matters.

As I pack my final bags and ship the last of my boxes, I can't help but feel extremely sad to be leaving home. I'm heading off to college tomorrow leaving behind everything I have ever known. I took a final walk around my neighborhood and noticed so many things I'd never seen before.

I'll miss home more than I can say.

I recently saw the film "A Single Man." I thought it was a beautiful and inspiring film. Each shot was stunning. I especially loved the make-up and costumes on Charley, Julianne Moore's character. So the other day I did a bit of a shoot inspired by the film!

Berry Fool!

I've been cooking a lot lately. My new favorite summer recipe is the delicious Berry Fool! It's cool and sweet and perfect for summer.

Here is the recipe!

Ingredients:

7 small strawberries, plus extra for decoration

1/3 cup sugar

3/4 cup raspberries or blueberries

1 teaspoon lemon juice

pinch of salt

3/4 cup heavy cream, cold

mint leaves

Stem and hull the strawberries, then quarter them lengthwise. In a small bowl, toss together the quartered strawberries and the sugar. Then, using a folk, smash the berries until they are jellylike and mostly pureed. Add the raspberries or blueberries and crush lightly with the fork. Stir in the lemon juice and salt. Taste and add 1-2 more tablespoons sugar, if desired. Place in the freezer and chill, stirring frequently, until very cool, 15 minutes.

In a chilled howl, using mixture on medium/high speed whip the cream until firm peaks begin to form when the beaters are lifted. Scoop chilled fruit onto cream and, using a rubber spatula, fold the fruit into the cream until incorporated.

Spoon dessert into glasses. Serve immediately or refrigerate overnight.

I have been wanting to do a 365 days photography project for a long time. This is when you take a picture each day for a whole year. This challenge always appealed to me because of seeing how far other peoples photography came in a year. So I decided to do a 56 days project (56 days being the remainder of my summer before I go off to school). I will be posting one photo a day on my Flickr.

Sorry for the lack of posting recently, I've been really busy with a play and my 12th grade graduation. But now I am free and happy to return to a somewhat normal routine.

I'm back with part two of my New York trip!

What would New York be without the fantastic food? There are so many delicious places to eat and foods to try! I must have gained ten pounds with all of the macaroons, gelato and delicious meals I ate.

My friend and I had the good fortune of going to see How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying with Daniel Radcliffe. The show was fabulous and we had such a wonderful time! It made me want to sing, dance and most of all pull out all of my 1950's clothing!

I also got to go to a Yankees game, which isn't totally my cup of tea, but I still had a good time.

Well I'm home now and ready to have a wonderful summer!

Over the weekend I was a part of a concert where I got to play flute alongside Melissa Etheridge, Stephen Stills and Steve Porcaro (who wrote the song Human Nature).

It was loads of fun, but I've been so busy. It's nice to finally have some free time.

I took these shots for a class project. I wanted to show beauty in things that we often don't think of as beautiful, such as weeds, chipping paint, dead plants and stone.

The best days in New York were the ones spent strolling the streets. I visited wonderful cathedrails and the library.

I visited Henri Bendel and Burgdorf Goodman where I had tea and deviled eggs.

I went to Central Park and got Hazelnut ice cream.

Continuing on with my New York posts, I finally arrived in the big city. We visited NYU, but it wasn't my kind of school in the slightest. I much prefer closed campuses.

We spent the day walking around Soho. I had the best sandwich at this Indian Restaurant!

There are so many fantastic stores! Both vintage and not.

Next on my college trip I took a visit to Bard College. Although the campus was lovely the school wasn't quite my cup of tea.

Lately I've been very inspired by the lovely pixie cuts adored by some of my favorite young actresses. Carey Mulligan, Emma Waston and Mia Wasikowska all have such lovely cuts. It makes me nostalgic for Natalie Portman's short hair and of course, Audrey's lovely pixie cut.

On the second day of my New York trip I drove to Rhode Island to visit the most prestigious of the schools on my list, Brown. I have to say that although Brown was great, it's not my favorite out of all the schools.

I did adore the lovely red brick buildings though! They made me feel so studious!

I wore another of my "new" big and warm sweaters. I love the mustard color of this one.

Since this is the last week of summer, I am planning to make the most of it! Yesterday I cheered all of my favorite shows while watching the Emmy's with my "Glee Hand." It was a blast even though neither Lost or Glee won as many awards as I would have liked.

Today while taking pictures someone down the street was playing the Beatles song Lovely Rita, so I decided to name the post after it!
